This Programme is consists of 7 multidisciplinary
PETR : Oil and Gas Industry
GEOL : Petroleum Geology - Basic
DRLG : Introduction to Drilling
PTPR : Well Evaluation
PTPR : Well Completion
PTPR : Production Operation
PTPR : Petroleum Industry Project
This multidisciplinary programme is an excellent choice for those who would like to increase their working knowledge of all of the technical aspects of the oil and gas industry.
Those already in the industry and students from ancillary sectors can increase their technical understanding of the ever dynamic energy business.
Participants new to the energy industry can expect to prepare for many of the administrative and support level technical positions that are in high demand today within energy companies.
This program will teach students the basics of geology, geophysics, drilling, well evaluations, completions and production operations
Course Description
Our petroleum overview training provides the foundation for courses required for the SAIT's Upstream Petroleum Industry Certificate and the Unconventional Petroleum Certificate.
Learn the scope of the oil and gas industry, including the major functions, products and the environment within which it operates, particularly in Canada. We'll cover production and the process of detecting, accessing and maintaining oil and gas production, as well as discuss a variety of unconventional methods and sources used to supply energy to customers, including upstream production operations.
Discussions about midstream to downstream operations will reveal how the final product gets to the consumer through pipelines, refineries, processing plants and marketing.
A challenge exam is available for people already familiar with exploration, geology, drilling and production operations
Course Description
This course provides an introduction to sedimentary rocks, trapping and other topics relating to petroleum geology. You'll learn rock types, the structure of the earth's crust and the composition and formation of oil and gas reservoirs. This training also includes a discussion of geophysics, mapping and petroleum exploration
Course Description
This course provides an introduction to conventional and directional oil and gas well drilling. There will be opportunities to explore topics, such as legal survey systems, equipment and materials used to drill wells, including the main components that make up the drill string assembly.
We'll then explain drilling fluids, well control, casing design and cementing and fishing
Course Description
As part of the Upstream Petroleum Industry certificate program, the Well Evaluation is the fourth course in this series. You'll be introduced to drill stem testing, core analysis and open-hole logs. A completion interval selection will also be discussed
Course Description
In the Upstream Petroleum Industry certificate program, Well Completion is the fifth course in this series. We'll introduce completion types, equipment and operations and the influence of reservoir mechanics in completion design. There will be discussion around workovers and re-completions
Course Description
In the Upstream Petroleum Industry certificate program, Production Operations is the sixth course in this series. We'll introduce you to surface operations, pipelines and artificial lift, oil and gas processing, as well as allowable and production accounting concepts
Course Description
The Petroleum Industry Project is the final course for the Upstream Petroleum Industry certificate program, which includes an assigned petroleum industry project. Participants will apply the knowledge acquired from previous courses and prepare a formal report
